“When was the last time you impressed yourself?”
I made focaccia bread for the first time recently!

I have always been adverse to baking. Baking requires a bit more technical skill to nail, where as cooking feels more forgiving. After reading that focaccia is one of the easiest breads to bake, I tried it out. I had left over flour from a vegan cake I baked that I had to find something to do with. So this is where my attempt was born from.
In my past baking experiences, it always felt like something went wrong. The batter/dough was too dry, too overworked, etc. So I wasn’t really expecting much from my focaccia. I mixed the yeast and flour and olive oil, let it sit in the fridge for about three days to let rise, and then put it in the pan and let it rise again. Got to say, dimpling the bread is very fun. Feels like you are kid playing in the sandbox a little.
The result was a lot better than I had anticipated! It was nice to have a baking product I made come out good. I think focaccia is fool proof for the most part, but I am just glad I made any type of bread. I have since made a few loaves of this because its really nice to use for sandwiches. I want to try different flavors in the future, but this taunts me a little because adding tomatoes or other ingredients can effect the breads overall bake. I am not that adventurous yet.
I have been in a bit of creative rut, so I have been trying things outside my normal scope. Cooking and baking is one of those things. Next is sour dough, because that one feels like a step up in difficulty that may be worth trying. Got to pace myself though.
